Principal's Corner

Welcome to the J. R. Trippe Middle School website.

J. R. Trippe Middle School is the home of the Chiefs!  We have approximately 561 students in grades  6 - 8.  We also have 32 full-time teachers, 4 half-time teachers, a counselor, a media specialist, a graduation coach, an assistant principal, and a principal who all dedicate ourselves to helping our 561 students achieve all they can possibly achieve.

Our students are highly engaged in learning every day.  Our teachers are experts at designing lessons that meet the state-required standards and at designing lessons that hold our students' interest.  Our students receive instruction in Math, Science, Social Studies, and English/Language Arts as well as two connections classes per day.  Following are areas of extra help available for students:  Connections Math, Connections Reading, Study Skills, tutoring after school with teachers, tutoring at lunch with the graduation coach, and mentors from the community and school.

In addition to the excellent academic education provided at our school, we also have a comprehensive extracurricular program.  Our students have opportunities to participate in football, softball, cross country, swimming, wrestling, basketball, golf, tennis, track, soccer, and baseball.  Students may also get involved in Y Club, Builder's Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 4H, Student Council, Pep Club, Beta Club, and Quiz Bowl.

We are proud to have achieved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the past five school years.  During those same five years, we have been a Title I Distinguished School.  Our school was one of five middle schools in the state that recently received a Gold Award for making great gains in student achievement.

We are very grateful for the support we receive from our parents and our community.  Many of our parents are involved in our school by helping with programs and celebrations, copying for teachers, and serving as mentors.  We also have community mentors as well as businesses that sponsor awards and activities for our students.

If you would like further information about our school, please call us at (912) 537-3813.
