Vidalia Students Attend District Honor Chorus

Savannah, GA, October 17-18, 2014

Congratulations to the Vidalia students who attended Georgia Music Educators Association District One Honor Chorus at Armstrong State University last weekend! These students proved their excellence in local auditions and were selected to participate in the clinic in Savannah for two grueling days of rehearsal culminating in a wonderful performance for their parents and peers.

J. R. Trippe Middle School sent these representatives: Miguel Cruz, Faith Futch, Emily Johnson, Lily Loosberg, Faith McCoy, Joy McCullough, Marshall Morrison,Shelbi Mortensen, Chastity Oliver, Tahjah Watts, and Walker Wheeler. Vidalia

Comprehensive High School sent Anthony Edgerton, Taylor Mosley, and Ambria Wheeler. These students rehearsed before and after school for weeks on the unfamiliar repertoire for the event, and represented our schools well in both their discipline and musical skills under the batons of master conductors.

Middle School students performed “Lord, I Don’t Feel No Ways Tired,” “Durme, Durme,” “I Know Where I’m Going,” “A Joyful Gloria,” and “Siyahamba.” Three of these selections were in foreign languages! VCHS students performed an entire major work, the Faure Requiem, sung entirely in Latin.

Mr. John Morgan, Choral Director, wishes to congratulate the students and thank the parents, chaperones, Principals John Sharpe and Gwen Warren, and the Vidalia City School System Board of Education for allowing these students to attend this memorable event.
