The girl's soccer team at J. R. Trippe Middle School went into the soccer season as the defending region champions.  They finished this year's regular season with six wins and no losses, finishing first in regular season play.  There was a three way tie for second place in the region between West Laurens, Bleckley County, and Toombs County.  Those teams had a season record of four wins and two losses each.

The Lady Chiefs played West Laurens in the first round of the playoffs, defeating them in a tough match, 1 to 0.  The championship game saw the Lady Chiefs playing the Toombs County Middle School Lady Bulldogs.  The Lady Chiefs captured a victory over Toombs County, 1 - 0, making them the region champions for the second year in a row.  Another noteworthy accomplishment for this year's Lady Chiefs is that they went through the whole soccer season without giving up a goal.

Coach Lynne Cabrol commented, "This group of girls has a love of the game and a drive that you just don't find many places.  They practice hard, and they give you all they have.  These girls are all friends and play so well together.  They are great athletes as well as great individuals.  I feel blessed to have been able to coach them.  The soccer program has only been at Trippe for four years, and the girls have been region runners-up and region champions twice each.  It just shows you that soccer is taking hold in this area and is hopefully here to stay."
